Here are some useful tip on natural tile cleaning:

Limestone cleaning

Limestone is generally speaking as relatively soft stone compared with granite or even marble. Limestone is a calcium-based stone and as a result is very sensitive to acids, so when choosing the best products for limestone cleaning, on no account use an acid product.

When Limestone cleaning, make sure your limestone is protected with a good quality sealer then eliminate grit – the main cause of wear to limestone, especially the polished variety. Sweeping or vacuuming regularly also helps

Mop up isolated spills as they occur – Don’t leave strong contaminants like wine or coffee to dwell, mop up immediately and wash the limestone at regular intervals using a mild, neutral cleaner - this will clean the limestone without harming the stone, grout or sealer and, from time to time, perform a periodic deep clean. For this a high alkaline cleaner is recommended.

Marble cleaning

Although usually harder than limestone, marble is not generally as hard as granite. As a result, like limestone, consideration should be given to wear prevention. Like limestone, marble is a calcium-based stone and as a result is very sensitive to acids. The same advice for limestone cleaning generally applies to marble cleaning.

Slate cleaning

When slate cleaning it helps t if you know the nature of the dirt or the contaminant you are trying to remove. It is important to know this before you can decide which products for cleaning slate you require.

Slate comes in many different colours and finishes - some smooth, others with more surface texture – but all slates usually have good resistance to mild acids. Therefore when cleaning slate you have a much wider choice of cleaning product than you do with acid sensitive stones such as marble or limestone.

For most situations, including general dirt and grime, oil, wax or a general build up of old polishes a strong alkaline cleaner for periodic intensive cleaning and a mild, neutral cleaner for safe everyday or routine cleaning is recommended.

Granite cleaning

Although granite is a hard and non-porous stone that is unaffected by most chemicals it still requires high degrees of care while cleaning. When granite cleaning, the use of harsh chemicals should still be avoided. Regularly dust the surface and use few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild liquid dish washing detergent or warm water. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks.
